Got any idea of what it feels like to research used Integrales for sale and discover that buying an Evoluzione II would be more expensive than importing an '03 Cobra?

Yes, as a matter of fact I do...

I'm not surprised. The Lancia is a very rare and appreciating rally icon, the other is a relatively common muscle car at or near the bottom of its depreciation curve.

Lancia built over 12,000 Evo IIs, which isn't a lot less than the 19,000 supercharged Cobras built by SVT between 2002 and 2004. In fact I'd say the latter is indeed the rarest considering the fact very few exist in Europe.
Little details aside, do keep in mind that among the importation costs I am including taxing over 4601cc and 327 g/km of CO2, although the estimate I did was for an import from another EU country. €15,000 for the car, €18,000 for taxes and it can still be €10,000 less than an Evo.

12,000? I had expected way less. Not being very familiar with American cars I had just expected there to be many more of that specific version of the Mustang.

I'm not aware of the import costs in the country you live in. Here, in the Netherlands, we don't have any kind of displacement taxes but we do have CO2 taxes for registering new or newly imported cars. But only for those built since the CO2 taxing system was introduced a few years ago, and with a discount conversion method for cars when they age (10 years: 92% discount). I just checked: a brand new 327 g/km car would fetch slightly over €75k in gas guzzler taxes...

Anyway, wouldn't importing an Evo II result in heavy taxation as well? Or is it exempt due to age, or do you want to buy one that's already in the country?

I was checking cars for sale in my country. For some reason those two came to mind. As I couldn't find a supercharged Cobra in any Portuguese site, I went to foreign (but still EU-area) ones.
And yes, importing any car built after 1970 would result in heavy taxation. The only way to avoid it is by choosing cars with lower displacements and lower carbon emissions ratings. Or by chopping up some random part of your body that you don't need while driving, since for some unknown reason handicapped people are exempt of those taxes.

Can't you argue you lack [insert female body part], and are handicapped as a result?
